Session 1: Visual Thinking Strategies with Eris Migliorini (60 minutes), followed by a hands-on activity demonstration (30 minutes)

April 27 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Visual Thinking Strategies, or VTS, is a program which teaches critical thinking skills through conversation centered around visual art. VTS utilizes a carefully structured student-centered facilitation method to promote visual literacy and communication and collaboration skills. Through these thoughtfully facilitated discussions of art, education can become more effective, engaging, inclusive, and equitable. Join Honeywell VTS facilitator, Eris Migliorini, to learn more about Honeywell’s work in the schools, and experience a Visual Thinking Strategies session.

Session 2: hands-on activity demonstration (30 minutes), followed by an Environmental Education with Mary Tippman (60 minutes)
April 27 from 1:30 - 3 p.m.

Mary Harter is Myaamia (Miami), descended from Takumwah and Chief Richardville (Pinšiwa) and is a citizen of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma. Her knowledge of native plants and cultural usage has been handed down from her mother (Dani Tippmann), grandmother, great aunts, and tribal elder tradition bearers. Her passion for how plants and nutrition impact her community and the human body led her to pursue formal education, resulting in a Master’s degree in Nutrition. She practices as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Registered Nurse, and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist. Mary also serves as the Food Program Coordinator for the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma’s Tribal youth programs.
